Name: Craig G (if I told you my middle name I would have to kill you) and Nicole Kathryn. Vineyard address: Malpas Road, McLaren Vale (some would say Willunga) What prompted you to develop a vineyard? We thought throwing $100 notes at a fire sounded like fun - seriously, we bought the property in late '96. It caught our eye for the established house, space and ideal shedding for our day job. After much thought and discussion (about 10 minutes) with our accountant and peers, we decided to plant. So by March '97 it was all happening. We planted 12 acres of Shiraz and 5 acres of Cabernet. What are your prospects for the future? We are both confident there will always be a market for premium fruit in premium areas. We can't think of a more perfect place to be growing grapes into the 2000s. Favourite Meals: Craig - as simple as a gourmet pizza at the local Oscars Diner accompanied by a John Hugo Shiraz . Nicole - a mushroom risotto at Café Bonjourno and a glass of Peter Lehman 1998 Shiraz. Family Details: We have been married for 15 years and have two children, Andrew is 13 and Elizabeth is 11. Craig was born in McLaren Vale and lived in Kangarilla until 11 years ago. Nicole was born in Townsville (half Queenslander, half Tasmanian!) and grew up around Eastern Australia, Singapore, Adelaide and Kangarilla. Main Profession: Well, we would like to think it was just being great people! To keep the wolves from the door, we run a drilling, irrigation and water supply business. The work takes us around the local area and to a 350km radius from McLaren Vale. We also supply and service pumps on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
