Adam Jacobs A. D. App. Sc (Viticulture) Director Member ASVO I began my wine industry career in 1987 by studying Horticulture at the Victorian College for Agriculture and Horticulture. Studying at night classes and working during the day as a Horticultural and Viticultural Contractor I soon learnt Viticulture was my love and passion. In 1989 I enrolled at Charles Sturt University at Wagga Wagga, NSW to achieve the award of Associate Diploma of Applied Science in Viticulture. At that time a short period in wine sales and marketing in 1990 with Domaine Wine Shippers P/L in Melbourne, Victoria made me more aware of consumer demands on wine styles and quality. This was invaluable experience and after graduating at Wagga Wagga in 1995 I was appointed as Viticulturist for the Hamilton Wine Group, overseeing vineyards in the Coonawarra and McLaren Vale. This position encompassed considerable vineyard development and retro fitting of old 50-100 year old vineyards. In October of 1999 Vitiwise Viticultural Management was born. It was my ambition to provide a consulting service to cater for vineyard owners requiring viticultural management and for new investors regarding vineyard development. One of the Vitiwise objectives developed in 1999 was to offer personal assistance with vineyard management and development from grape to glass. Today Vitiwise Pty Ltd is seen in McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills, Langhorne Creek and Currency Creek GI locations and consults to over 1500 acres within those particular regions. Its day to day operation is a family concern with wife Karen assisting in financial and office administration.
